Filmed back in 1975, “The Last of the Cycling Postmen” tells the story of Mike Sheehan, an Irish postal carrier who’d been traveling up to 30 miles a day around West Cork by bicycle and foot during his more than 40-year career. According to estimates, at that time he’d worn out an astounding 22 bikes, 96 pairs of tires, and 240 pairs of brake pads. And, at a minimum, he’d already pedaled the distance of 10 times around the equator (roughly 400,000 miles), all along the hilly roads of his rural community.
