A cable free cockpit, anyone? The new MAGURA Cockpit Integration (MCi) is the world’s first hydraulic brake that’s fully integrated in the handlebar. Get the full scoop here…

On the outset, it might appear to be all about aesthetics, but the new MAGURA MCi introduces a completely new take on hydraulic brakes. By moving the hydraulic unit and all the brake lines inside the handlebar and stem, MAGURA Cockpit Integration (MCi) is the first hydraulic brake that’s fully internal, offering a clean appearance with no external brake cables. More interesting, having all the cables internally routed could protect the hydraulics from crashes… and bikepacking bags. Eliminating bag interference is certainly something I could get behind.

What do you think? Too complicated? Promising technology? Watch the video and find a few more details below…

The heart of the MAGURA MCi is a brake cylinder that’s stashed inside the handlebar grip. The brake lines are also routed through the inside of the handlebar, stem, and steering tube via ports in the handlebars.

MAGURA also added the Easy Link coupling—similar to the brake line link on the Rodeo Labs Trail Donkey we recently looked at—which enables a simple plug-in connection between the MCi and the brake line. During servicing, the entire unit can be separated and dismantled without losing any hydraulic fluid. The system also provides easy access for bleeding at the handlebar end.
