In Manzanita Cycles’ first YouTube video, builder Nick Jensen introduces his forthcoming Whippet gravel bike, which features clearance for burly 29 x 2.25″ tires and a full suite of considered touches. Watch his short video overview here…
Framebuilder Nick Jensen of Manzanita Cycles in Reno, Nevada, recently launched a YouTube channel, where he’ll be sharing some of his custom steel creations and more. In his debut video, he introduces the upcoming Manzanita Whippet, a gravel model that will be available in a range of sizes next year. The Whippet is named in honor of his dog, Beasley, who he says is “lightning fast and a reliable companion.” The frame is designed around 29 x 2.25″ (55mm) tires, a size Nick has been running on his personal bikes for years and thinks is the future of gravel bikes.
The new Manzanita Cycles Whippet also features internal cable routing for a discreet mechanical drivetrain or a clean-looking wireless configuration, flat mount brakes, rear rack mounts, a custom stainless chainstay yoke that allows the use of dedicated 1x gravel cranksets, swappable custom plate dropouts compatible with SRAM UDH/Transmission and regular derailleurs, a subtle seat tube bend that helps the frame clear a chunky tire, and what Nick calls nimble geometry across all sizes. He’s positioning the Whippet as the ideal drop-bar bike for everyday gravel rides, fast bikepacking missions, and gravel races.
We’ll share additional details and pricing when available. For now, you can follow along with Manzanita Cycles on Instagram, and be sure to check out Nick’s Reader’s Rig and his Lost Sierra Loop route!
