The Mason Macro is the latest hardtail mountain bike from the UK-based bicycle brand, designed around a lightweight aluminum frame, 29″ wheels, and years of rider feedback. Find a teaser of what’s to come here…

Mason has been teasing a new hardtail mountain bike for a while now, but things started feeling more official when Josh Ibbett rode it to an eighth-place finish at the 2024 Atlas Mountain Race in Morocco earlier this year. Although it’s not officially being released to the public, Mason decided it was time to share more details and photos of their new prototype hardtail, the Mason Macro.

The Macro is the 10th model in Mason’s lineup, and it pays homage to founder Dom Mason’s roots in mountain biking. It fills the gap between the Bokeh gravel bike and the RAW hardtail we tested as a lightweight, aluminum 29er that’s “optimized for speed and comfort over unpredictable terrain,” as Mason puts it. According to Mason, the Macro features a full custom aluminum tube set from Dedacciai and a HotShoe2 carbon fork (not pictured), along with bespoke load-carrying solutions, including their Condenser Rack. We can also confirm it will be designed around 29 x 2.4″ tires and a rigid or 120mm travel fork.

That’s all we’ve got for now, but you can head over to MasonCycles.cc to sign up for updates as they become available. We’ll be sure to share more as the project evolves. Mason has yet to set an official launch date, but it should be later this year.
