Unveiled at the DT Swiss Craft Bike Days show, the MASON x Barco Exposure Primitiva is a concept bike that combines the craftsmanship of Cicli Barco, a bike builder based in Italy, with the design expertise of Mason Cycles. Using the Mason Exposure as a basis, the Exposure Primitiva is a prototype based on the new DT Swiss F 132 ONE suspension fork, with bikepacking adapters and a few other interesting design cues. The bike also features revised geometry to accommodate the travel, integrated cable routing, Barco’s precision-machined Zero head tube, which eliminates the need for head tube extension, and their Primitiva finish.
The Exposure Primitiva won the Highlight of the Show award, underscoring how much the concept resonated with those in attendance. Per Dom Mason, owner and designer at the brand, “Working with Barco on the Exposure Primitiva allowed us to test ideas and to learn. The DT Swiss gravel fork is exciting in its own right, but some of Barco’s touches really brought this project to life. That Zero head tube, for example, is machined to a precise length after welding, leaving no extension above or beneath. It gives us a large weld area and great strength, but takes real craft to achieve. I love it.” While it’s just a one-off, the prototype has sparked new ideas that will be integrated into future iterations at Mason.
