Atlas Mountain Race 2025

Meaghan Hackinen is a past winner of the 24-hour World Time Trial Championships and many bikepacking races, including the Ozark Gravel Doom, Dark Divide 300, Log Driver’s Waltz, and Big Lonely. Last year, she finished the 1,012-mile Arkansas High Country Race in first place overall, setting a new women’s fastest known time (FKT) in the process. The same year, Meaghan was the first woman to complete the Tour Divide, setting the second-fastest-ever women’s time on the 2,700-mile route on her first attempt at it, bested only by Lael Wilcox’s record-setting 2015 ride during an Individual Time Trial (ITT).

After being signed onto Salsa Cycles’ ambassador program for 2025, Meaghan has set her sights on a new challenge: the Mountain Races. The trio of challenging events includes the Atlas Mountain Race, Hellenic Mountain Race, and Silk Road Mountain Race, and Meaghan is attempting to become the first woman to finish all three in a single calendar year. This massive challenge kicks off with the 1,300-kilometer Atlas Mountain Race in Morocco this weekend, followed by the Hellenic Mountain Race in May, and ending with the Silk Road Mountain Race in August. In total, she’ll ride more than 4,000 kilometers of challenging terrain on three continents. “Each of these races is a beast in its own right. Taking them on back-to-back is going to be a massive test, but that’s exactly why I’m drawn to it. It’s about seeing what’s possible,” she said.

The Atlas Mountain Race starts tomorrow, and you can follow all the racers’ progress live via our Event Tracker page. Good luck, Meaghan!
