The best thing about MicroSHIFT’s new 10-speed drivetrain is that it features absolutely no new standards, making it compatible with standard Shimano HG freehubs and easy-to-find 10-speed chains. Here’s what MicroSHIFT has to say about their new Advent X drivetrain: “We wanted a new high performance drivetrain with light weight and wide range. We didn’t want a bunch of weird new standards or proprietary parts. So, we locked our engineers in a windowless room and put them to work. The result: ADVENT X. A shred-ready, top of the line MTB drivetrain from your friends at microSHIFT.”
The Advent X drivetrain includes a brand new shifter, derailleur, and cassette. Their 11-48T cassette is available in two versions: a dual aluminum spider (CS-G104) model for $64.99 USD and a hardened steel (CS-H104) model for $44.99 for added durability. Both feature a two-layer ED finish, standard HG freehub compatibility, and are designed to run with with standard 10-speed chains. The aluminum spider model weighs just 424g, which is lighter than both Shimano XT and SRAM GX alternatives.
The Trail Trigger Pro shifter ($29.99) features a grippy silicone thumb pad and MicroShift’s signature “light and clicky” shifter action. There’s also a non-pro shifter for $5 less, which loses the silicone gripper.
The Advent X derailleur has a MSRP of $71.99 and is based on the same reliable design as their Advent 9-speed derailleur, only lighter and better performing. It features a ratchet-and-pawl clutch, full metal construction, and metric hardware for hassle-free setup. Here’s a breakdown of the entire drivetrain, including prices, weights, and product links:
