While they aren’t the first brand to offer bikepacking-specific tent models, it’s promising to see MSR stepping up with their new Hubba Hubba Bikepack tents. As we all know, traditional backpacking tents often have long pole segments that are awkward to pack on a bike, and bikepackers have unique needs that aren’t addressed by normal tents. MSR’s new tent lineup takes their popular Hubba Hubba series and adds several new features that make them closer to ideal for bikepackers.

The MSR Hubba Hubba Bikepack tents use the same symmetrical pole structure as the standard version, with two small Ys at each end with a horizontal canopy pole to increase the useable internal space. It comes in both one- and two-person freestanding designs, features integrated vestibules (bigger than the regular Hubba Hubba), and has a rectangular floor. The one-person model has a single doorway, while the two-person model has two doors and two vestibules for stashing gear. The tents are made from a blend of mesh and ripstop nylon for privacy and air flow with a ripstop nylon fly. MSR includes both interior and exterior clotheslines for drying out stinky socks after a long day on the bike.

Both tents include a waterproof handlebar stuff sack with reflective details, a roll-top closure, and optional handlebar spacers to leave room for brake/shift cables. There’s also a headtube strap and gear loops for strapping on additional gear. Overall, it’s one of the most promising handlebar storage bags we’ve seen from a bikepacking tent. Both tents also have shorter DAC pole segments that pack down to 12″ (30cm) long, making them easier to fit between drop bars.
