Building on their lineup of cockpit extensions and aero bars, Farr is back with a new range of bolt-on handlebar accessories for more hand positions on long rides. Find details on the new Farr Bolt-On Extender Range here…
It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than five years since Farr released their original Carbon Aero Bolt-On, a type of mini aerobar/handlebar extension. Since then, the Australian brand has released several updates, a suite of interesting handlebars, and much more—all designed for long rides where multiple hand positions are helpful.
The new Farr Bolt-On Extender range builds on the original mission to add hand positions and comfort in the form of bolt-on handlebar extensions. Similar to bolt-on bull horns, the Farr Bolt-On Extenders can be run as inner or outer bar ends, use 31.8mm clamps (but can be converted to 22.2mm with their optional alloy shim set), and are made from 6061-T6 Aluminum. It’s also nice to see the clamps are fully removable, so grips and other controls don’t need to be removed each time the Extenders are installed.
The Bolt-On Extenders come in two sizes. The Bolt-On Extender Large has 120mm of straight tubing with a rise toward the end. The Bolt-On Extender Medium has 60mm of straight tubing and no rise. The tubing on both versions has a 22.2mm diameter, making it compatible with most GPS and light mounts, and it appears they use standard bar-end plugs at the end, so there could be an opportunity for some nifty dynamo charger integrations (like kLite’s new cylindrical micro charger) as well. Both sizes can be used with or without Farr’s aero armrests, depending on what type of riding position you’re after. They weigh 174 grams and 140 grams, respectively. Farr put together overview videos for each size that you can watch below:
