The new Pace RC629 is a replacement for the RC529, featuring British Reynolds and Pace Chromoly steel tubing, 29 x 2.5″ tires, sliding dropouts, and geometry suited for 140 to 150mm travel forks. Get to know it here…
The new Pace RC629 is the larger sibling to the RC429 and the now-defunct RC529 that it replaced. According to Pace, the RC629 blends “state-of-the-art design and progressive geometry with the comfort and durability of Reynolds steel” and is a true everyday mountain bike infused with Pace DNA. Like their other models, it’s designed and developed in North Yorkshire, England, and manufactured in Taiwan.
The RC629 is built around a mix of British Reynolds and Pace Chromoly steel tubing, CNC-machined sliding dropouts, subtle reinforcing gussets, and easy-to-maintain external cable routing, except for the dropper post. It’s designed around a 140 or 150mm travel fork, with clearance for 29 x 2.5″ tires, and it can also run a 27.5″ wheel out back for extra playful mullet setups.
The RC629 features rear rack mounts and a single bottle cage inside the main triangle, which is not as well-equipped as other bikes, but it’s enough to accommodate some gear for rowdy singletrack-filled bikepacking. The frame uses a 73mm threaded bottom bracket, a 31.6mm seatpost, has a 180mm max rotor size, and uses ISG mounts for bash guards. It’s available in three sizes (M-XL) and two frame colors: Ice (light blue/grey) or Olive (khaki/olive). Find the complete geometry chart below, displayed with a 150mm sagged fork.
