The United Kingdom has a long history of multi-day bikepacking events and races. There are approachable weekend rides and massive events where cyclists race from one end of the Great Britain to the other. No matter the length, UK bikepacking comes with a unique set of challenges that make any race a serious undertaking. For the first time, three race organizers have joined together to create the UK Triple Crown (UK-TC), a bikepacking challenge that encourages riders to complete three longstanding bikepacking events within a single calendar year.

The UK Triple Crown is made up of the Highland Trail 550 by Alan Goldsmith, the Dales Divide by Chris Ellison, and the North Wales 400 by Tom Bruce. In each calendar year, a rider who completes all three routes with the fastest overall time will be the winner and holder of the “UK Triple Crown.” Any rider who completes all three within the cut-off times will be a “UK-TC Finisher.” A UK-TC rider can complete them either on the mass start date or ride the routes as an individual time trial (using Trackleaders) at any time within the year. All three races follow similar formats, including that they’re grassroots events, are established, and entry is either free or a very low-cost donation.
For details of how to complete the UK-TC, see Dales Divide on Facebook, the Highland Trail 550, and the North Wales 400.
