The new Vargo BOT XL features the same titanium construction we’ve loved for years, but it’s now wide enough to nest an 8 oz. (227g) isobutane fuel canister inside. Learn more here…
A few of us have been long-term users of the Vargo BOT, and if you dig back into the archives, you’ll find Logan’s 2014 review of the original BOT. For those who aren’t familiar, the BOT is a lightweight titanium pot with a watertight screw-top lid that makes it perfect for bikepacking. The BOT 700 and BOT HD have fold-out handles and are wide enough to fit a small 4 oz. (110g) fuel canister alongside some packable stoves, and I’ve being using mine on nearly every solo bikepacking over the last five or so years.
The new Vargo BOT XL maintains everything we love about the other versions but features an extra-wide diameter for more internal packing space and even more cooking capabilities. The BOT XL has an inner diameter of 4.5 inches, making it wide enough to to nest an 8 oz. (227g) isobutane fuel canister inside with room for a stove or other accessories. It’s 4.9″ tall, which is just slightly taller than the BOT 700, and weighs in at 5.5 oz. (156g).
The BOT XL isn’t cheap at $110, but it’s one of our most used pieces of gear and has proven to hold up exceptionally well over time. Check it out at VargoOutdoors.com.
