The new Divide XL rack from Old Man Mountain has a longer top deck, clears 29+ tires, and, for the first time, is constructed by Stinner Manufacturing in California. Learn about the US-made Old Man Mountain Divide XL rack here…
Last month, Stinner Frameworks expanded operations to include domestic contract manufacturing for bicycle frames and components, targeted at brands looking to onshore their manufacturing. At the time of the announcement, they shared they were already working with a few brands, including Old Man Mountain. We weren’t quite sure what they were cooking up then, and it turns out Old Man Mountain is using Stinner for a new rear rack, which, according to OMM, was out of a “desire to manufacture as locally as possible to reduce their environmental impact through shipping and to support other small manufacturers.”

The new Old Man Mountain Divide XL is simply a longer-decked version of the standard Divide rack. The top deck is 2.5″ (64mm) longer than the original Divide rack, making it even more suitable for awkward cargo while still functioning as either a front or rear rack and suitable for rough, off-road terrain. The Divide XL has an impressive 55-pound (25-kilogram) carrying capacity when eyelet mounted and a 70-pound (33-kilogram) capacity when axle mounted using one of their Fit Kits. It clears 29 x 3.0″ tires with plenty of room for mud, has height-adjustable dropouts, and has a low pannier rail that makes installation/removal a cinch even with gear on the top deck.
This Divide XL is available directly from OMM and through shop, which will will have to order from OMM. As they put it, “We’d have to make it too expensive if we went through normal distribution. The Divide XL costs $228 USD, which is $60 more than the Taiwan-made Divide rack. Visit OldManMountain.com to purchase one.
