Omri Piko Kahan’s work has been making the rounds on Instagram as of late, and it’s easy to see why. An industrial designer by trade and a bike tinkerer off the clock, Omri’s new project brings together a pair of passions in a beautifully unexpected way. Far more than just a gimmick, Omri’s bike chairs are handmade and actually look comfortable, owing to a number of clever design decisions.

The more you look, the more interesting details reveal themselves. A few of my favorites are the carefully matched top tube angles, the filed fillets, the custom setback “seatpost” upper support that harmonizes the two elements, and the preserved seat tube bottle mounts, which look ideally positioned to still hold a bottle cage and drink. Omri is currently taking orders for custom chairs and collaborations, though pricing details will need to be worked out on a case-by-case basis.
