Just announced, the all-new OneUp Hubs feature a new 44-tooth star ratchet design and claim to be lighter and less expensive than other similar hubs. They’re also fully sealed, come with high-quality bearings, and are designed with durability in mind. Learn more here…
We’re not surprised to see OneUp Components enter the hub market, and what they came up with looks pretty interesting. The new OneUp hubs have a straightforward design that they claim features fewer parts, reduces weight, and enhances reliability. The hub body is machined from 7075 aluminum and has an integrated drive ring, as opposed to a steel, threaded drive ring like many other hub designs.

OneUp says their engineers essentially designed the hub they wanted for their own bikes. Most of them favored DT 350 hubs before, but they developed a 44T ratchet to achieve an optimal balance between engagement speed and reliability, providing a happy medium between DT’s 36 and 54T ratchets. OneUp claims the simplicity of the ratchet design kept the costs down, enabling them to offer the hubs at half the price of an I9 Hydra hubset with lighter weights across the board.

OneUp Hubs utilize premium Enduro ABEC 5 cartridge bearings in standard sizes, which are generally available at bike shops worldwide. OneUp states that the bearings are spaced as widely as possible to minimize wear, reduce sideloading, and extend bearing life.

Additionally, the hub flange spacing has been optimized to increase the strength and stiffness of wheels built with OneUp hubs. They use J-bend spokes, with wheel build specifications (PCD, Flange Distance) laser etched on the hub body for convenience. Freehubs are sold separately for easier shop management. OneUp also mentions their design simplifies hub maintenance. Ratchets, bearings, seals, freehubs, and small parts are all available directly from OneUp.

OneUp Hubs are available in seven colors—black, red, green, blue, orange, purple and grey—and can be purchased independently or as a set for $369.97 USD / $ 499.97 CAD / € 369.97 / £ 314.97. The front hub goes for $99.99 and the rear hub sells for $219.99 USD. Freehubs can be purchased for $49.99 USD / $67.99 CAD / €49.99 / £43.99.
