Osprey has officially entered the bikepacking category with its new Escapist line, a complete set of bags designed to fit a wide range of bikes and riding styles, featuring RF-welded seams and other promising details. Dig into the Osprey Escapist bikepacking bags here…

The time has seemingly come for big outdoor gear brands to take a run at designing bikepacking bags. CamelBak joined the club last year with their M.U.L.E. bag lineup, USWE released theirs earlier this month, and the packraft experts at Kokopelli now have their Durango bikepacking bag collection. It’s promising to see brands using their expertise in different outdoor gear categories to expand into the world of bikepacking. Next up is Osprey, a brand better known for their backpacks and travel bags, which just released an entire lineup of bikepacking bags that they’re calling the Escapist series.

The Osprey Escapist series consists of three on-body backpacks and five bike-mounted frame bags: Handlebar Bag, Saddle Bag, Frame Bag, Wedge Bag, and the Top Tube Bag. They all feature waterproof RF-welded construction, are built with 100% recycled nylon fabrics, and come in black.

Osprey Escapist Handlebar Bag

The Escapist Handlebar Bag is a harness and dry bag system constructed with waterproof fabrics, RF welded seams, and waterproof zippers. The harness itself has an aluminum reinforcement for stability, front reflective compression straps, front gear lash points, a head tube strap, and an additional over-the-stem strap to prevent downward rotation. The included double-ended dry bag holds up to 10L, the system weighs 222 grams, and it’s made from 100% recycled 210D nylon. The Osprey Escapist Handlebar Bag costs $120 USD. Learn more here.

Osprey Escapist Saddle Bag

The Escapist Saddle Bag consists of a fixed holster-style harness with a removable dry bag. The cradle attaches to the seatpost with a double-wrap velcro strap and to the saddle rails using two locking webbing straps. There are additional straps to cinch and secure the dry bag into the holster. The 9L drybag is tapered to avoid leg rub, has air purge valves to make packing easier, and the holster is reinforced with aluminum for stability. Some of Osprey’s imagery shows the saddle bag attached to a dropper post, and although it might work, it wouldn’t be our first choice. The Osprey Escapist Saddle Bag costs $120 USD. See more here.

Osprey Escapist Frame Bag

The Escapist Frame Bag is a half frame bag that comes in three sizes ranging from 2.5 to 4L. It has a structured exterior, a double-ended zipper on the drive-side, a map pocket on the non drive-side, water-resistant zippers, and a daisy chain along the spine with soft anti-scratch hook and loop straps. It costs between $80 and $90, depending on the size. See more here.

Osprey Escapist Wedge Bag

The Wedge Bag shares all the same specs as the Frame Bag but is designed around a small wedge shape to fit into all kinds of frame shapes, including some full-suspension mountain bikes. It has zippers on both sides, bright zipper pulls, adjustable velcro straps, and is RF-welded like the rest of the lineup. It comes in one 2L size option that weighs 157 grams. The Escapist Wedge Bag costs $60. Check it out here.

Osprey Escapist Top Tube Bag

A new bikepacking bag lineup wouldn’t be complete without a top tube bag. Osprey’s features a single main zipper, cable port, adjustable velcro straps, and a structured exterior to maintain its shape. It can hold up 0.25L and weighs 335 grams. Check it out here.
