Hey, I’m Andrew! I’m from Minneapolis, MN. I’m a dad to Emmett Leroy, a partner to Brenda, a fly fisherman, a rambler, a film photography enthusiast, and a coffee outside nerd. I work at Angry Catfish Bicycle Shop here in South Minneapolis.
On any given day, you’ll find me in the Minnesota River Bottoms on my Northern Frameworks gravel bike, local singletrack on my Krampus, and most often, boppin’ around on this here Rivendell Atlantis with too many cameras in my basket and probably a lot of other unnecessary but necessary things.
I bought this bike a few months ago from a friend of a friend. I had just sold a Salsa Cutthroat bikepacking rig and was looking for something that fit my changing philosophy on bikes (maybe I’ve been drinking the Grant Peterson Koolaid a little bit). My good bud Eric mentioned he knew of an Atlantis for sale, and when I saw it, I knew it was the one.

Eight years prior, working at a different shop, there was an older couple who would bring in their Atlantis’s for yearly maintenance. I would swoon over them every time they came in and swore someday I’d hop on the Riv train. It has lived up to my hopes so far and exceeded expectations in many ways. It’s just downright fun. It makes mellow Midwest singletrack and river trails feel absolutely wild, and it’s a constant reminder to slow down, enjoy the world around you, and bring stuff along that makes you happy.
I owe a lot to Eric for helping me find this bike and for being a fellow Riv Bike Ramble Jamble buddy! It’s always fun to have a friend to go slow with. Next time you see this bike, it’ll probably have a Burley or a Yepp seat attached. Hope to see ya out riding!
