Our Reader’s Rig of the week comes from Geoff Campbell in British Columbia, who shares his custom Poopie Prancer, a frame with long chainstays and slack geometry that’s purpose-built to haul taller riders. Learn more about Geoff and his bike here…

Hi! I’m Geoff, a freelance graphic designer living in the Comox Valley on the traditional territories of the K’omoks First Nation. I’ve spent much of my life between Vancouver, Vancouver Island, and the Gulf Islands, adventuring by bicycle, packraft, and foot! Whether I’m pedaling through remote, overgrown logging roads or dense urban environments, bicycles have always been a part of my most rewarding and empowering experiences.
Being a tall guy at 6’4″, I had never realized what I was missing out on until Matt of Poopie Prancer Bikes offered me one of his first hand-built frames! Matt, who is also tall, was inspired to build some frames that were more proportional to tall folks. In Matt’s words, “You don’t need kinky seat tubes or yokes to run 29+ if you’re a small Sasquatch. Your chainstays can be longer (gasp!) because you’re higher and further back.”
After a few thousand kilometers on my Poopie Prancer, I have a newfound love for long chainstays (470mm, to be specific). With a background in riding enduro trails on a rigid fourth-generation Salsa Fargo, the extra reach, stack, and slackness of my Poopie Prancer are much appreciated too!

Matt recently visited me in the Comox Valley after driving up from his home in Sacramento. We first met each other a few years ago while living in Bath, U.K., and this was our first visit after returning to our home countries during the pandemic. We were fortunate to spend four days on Texada Island, loosely following Miles Arbour’s superb route and field-testing our fully loaded Poopie Prancers for the first time. With all that salami, cheese, and water weight, my bike felt extra planted, making those corners and descents all the more fun!
