To celebrate the brand’s 85-year history, Rene Herse recently released an all-black version of the popular 29 x 2.2″ Fleecer Ridge in Endurance casing, as well as several other tires. Find all the details here…
To commemmorate 85 years since Rene Herse made its first bike, the company is offering limited editions of their most popular models with all-black Endurance casings. “Because some bikes simply look better with all-black tires,” wrote Jan and Natsuko of Rene Herse Cycles.
The Limited Edition models include the popular 29″ x 2.2″ Fleecer Ridge that we awarded Gear of the Year in 2022 and have since been ridden to victories in the Tour Divide, Silk Road Mountain Race, Unbound XL, Rhino Run, Hellenic Mountain Race, French Divide, and many other bikepacking events. The popular 26″ Rat Trap Pass tires and several others are also available in the all-black Limited Edition. Quantities are limited, prices are the same as their regular tires, and Rene Herse states the performance is identical.
The Fleecer Ridge comes in several casings, but the all-black version is only available in the Endurance, which is my personal favorite. All models of the Fleecer Ridge are made in Japan and have the following features:
- Clincher, folding bead
- Tubeless-compatible
- Recommended rim: 19 – 30mm (inner width), hookless or with hooks
- Maximum pressure with tubes: 55 psi (3.8 bar)
- Maximum recommended pressure – tubeless: 55 psi (3.8 bar)
- Actual width on 21 mm rim (internal): approx. 56 mm
- Actual width on 23 mm rim (internal): approx. 57 mm
- Extralight casing: +1 mm width
- Tubeless: +0.5 mm width
The Rene Herse Fleecer Ridge All-Black 85th anniversary edition is $92 with a stated weight of 645 grams. Learn more over at ReneHerse.com.
