The new Restrap Saddle Pack is far from just an update on the British brand’s existing rear bag offerings. With a mounting system that’s more consistent with the rest of the range and a slew of new features, the new Restrap Saddle Pack is a wholesale change to their saddle bag lineup…
The all-new Restrap Saddle Pack is a fresh take on their saddle-mounted bikepacking bag system. Where their existing saddle bags utilize a cradle that allows bags to detach from a harness mounted to the seat post and saddle, the new Restrap Saddle Pack is a redesign more consistent with other offerings on the market. Opting for a single-piece construction, the new Restrap Saddle Pack is made of the same 1000D textured nylon seen across Restrap’s bikepacking range.

Though the colorful sides of these 2.5L and 4.5L bags can be matched to other bags in the Restrap lineup, as the Saddle Pack comes in olive, orange, or black, the black center strip that faces the tire is made from super durable TPU-coated nylon for ease of cleaning. The bag also features a neon orange seam-sealed PU lining that keeps it weather-resistant and makes spotting items inside that much easier.
The Restrap Saddle Pack also has a rigid internal structure and eliminates excess sway through a wholly redesigned mounting system, complete with straps and foam spacers to minimize frame and component damage. Featuring a roll-top closure system, the bag claims to be 100% waterproof. The 4.5L option has an extra means of security through a magnetic Fidlock buckle.

Having used their cradle systems, I’m happy to see Restrap create an offering with a more traditional attachment system. Though the cradle has its benefits when re-packing the bike during groggy mornings at camp, the more direct, unibody construction is something I’ve found to work a bit better while riding. Either way, Restrap’s products have always been a hit in my eyes, so I’m excited to see them continue to improve on their designs.
The Restrap Saddle Pack is handmade in Yorkshire, England, and retails at £79.99/€95.99/$143.99 for the larger 4.5L bag, with the smaller, 2.5L option being £64.99/€77.99/$116.99. The video below introduces the new bag in further detail:
