In Daniel Yang’s newest video, he travels to Napa, California, to spend a day with influential American framebuilder Curtis Inglis of Retrotec and Inglis Cycles, who has been building bikes for over three decades. Watch the equally fascinating and informative 20-minute video here…
Daniel Yang of the YANGMFG YouTube channel has been on a roll throughout the past several months, regularly releasing thoughtfully produced videos that inform and entertain. An engineer by training, Daniel has a knack for making technical subjects approachable, and he’s also a builder himself, providing an additional angle for approaching the topics he covers. I’ve watched every one since he started ramping things up over the summer, and I’ve walked away with valuable insights from all of them so far.
In his latest video, Daniel heads to Napa, California, to spend time with Curtis Inglis, who has more than perfected the swoopy frame silhouette in his more than 30 years of building bikes. You’ve almost certainly seen his work under the Retrotec or Inglis Cycles names at one point, including several show bikes and Reader’s Rig submissions here on the site. Curtis is a fountain of knowledge, and he takes Daniel on a ride, gives him a tour of his shop, talks through his process, sits down to chat all things bikes, and more.
