The RockShox Rudy XL Ultimate and Rudy XL forks are two new offerings from SRAM that feature 60mm of tunable travel, clearance for 29 x 2.2″ tires, and a lockout system for the higher-end model. For more on this new gravel suspension fork, dive into the details below…
The major complaint most people have with the current crop of short-travel gravel suspension forks is that they lack the tire clearance for serious off-road riding and bikepacking. Not only do the new RockShox Rudy XL Ultimate and Rudy XL forks offer 60mm of tunable suspension, but they also feature clearance for larger tires, and the higher-end model has a lockout to ensure efficiency both on and off-road.

As stated, there are two new iterations, the RockShox Rudy XL Ultimate and Rudy XL, with the main difference between the two being in the damper. The Rudy XL doesn’t have the switchable lockout system like on the XL Ultimate, and no current MSRP is available for the base model fork. Both forks, however, come in either 50 or 60mm travel variants, fit 29″ x 2.2″ tires, feature a Solo Air spring, and have a 45mm offset. We were wondering if RockShox would make the jump to boost hub spacing, or at least offer a version with a boost axle, but it looks like the Rudy XL maintains a 12 x 100mm dropout.
Available on select upcoming stock builds from larger manufacturers, the RockShox Rudy XL Ultimate is also available for purchase as a standalone product for $929 or €1,010. Both forks can also be fitted with a RockShox fender, which will set you back an additional $25.
