Quietly released over the weekend, the Rogue Panda Canelo V2 handlebar harness is lighter, more functional, and more affordable than the original. Learn what else is new and find more photos here…

The Rogue Panda Canelo isn’t your typical handlebar harness. Instead, it uses an ultralight carbon fiber bar that’s secured through two precision-cut rubber spacers. This not only makes a lightweight and ultra-stable system, but it also provides extra clearance for cables and levers in front of the handlebars. The harness is attached to the bars using the same grippy straps Rogue Panda uses with their other bags, and it has three compression straps that loop around the carbon bar to secure your favorite dry bag in place. Neil reviewed the original version shortly after its release last year, and Rogue’s Panda-in-Chief, Nick Smolinske reached out to let us know the design just received an update.

So, what’s new? The overall design of the Canelo remains the same, but Rogue Panda has simplified the design to reduce labor costs, and they’ve passed the savings onto the customers. They’ve also managed to drop the overall weight by 56 grams (2 ounces) and improved on the functionality of the system.

  • The spacers are foam instead of rubber – this drops the harness + glideplate combo from 8 ounces to 6 ounces
  • The carbon tube has velcro to keep it from sliding back and forth when installing the bag
  • There are two width options for the straps, to fit more handlebars
  • The spacers have angled ends that help with fit on shorter head tubes
  • Behind-the-scenes construction changes that reduced labor cost

The Canelo handlebar harness costs $100 USD, with the option to add their GlidePlate head tube protector for an additional $25 and a waterproof dry bag with taped seams for $60. Head over to RoguePanda.com to check it out.
