California-based Roval Components, best known for their lightweight carbon wheels, has entered the component market with some new offerings. Learn more about the new Roval Terra seatpost and Control SL Wheels here…
Roval just released several new carbon components, including some drop and flat bars, but the most interesting from a bikepacking perspective are the new Terra Seatpost and Roval Control SL wheels. Find details on both below.
Roval Terra Seatpost
Inspired by the characteristics of their Terra CLX and CLX EVO wheelsets, the new Roval Terra seatpost is designed specifically with mixed-terrain riding in mind, where riders could benefit from some extra comfort. The engineers at Roval designed a layup that delivers up to 18mm of compliance while keeping the weight low, avoiding complex shapes and mechanical dampers to deliver the best gravel post possible at a race-ready weight. As Roval puts it, “The Terra seatpost and wheelsets truly capture the spirit of gravel performance with road-like weight and trail-ready toughness.”

Roval Control SL Wheels
The new Roval Control SL wheels are an attempt to keep up with the demands of modern XC bikes, based around class-leading weight without sacrificing strength and stability. They feature a 29mm internal width to help increase overall tire volume and redesigned bead walls that requires 22% more force to pinch a tire. They’ve also doubled the vertical compliance of the rim with 29% more impact strength, all while keeping the wheelsets weight down to 1240g.
The Roval Control SL wheels are available with a SRAM XD freehub and 6-bolt rotors or with Shimano Microspline and Centerlock rotors. They come complete with Roval Control Hubs, DT Swiss 180 EXP Hub Internals, and 36t Star Ratchets. They have a MSRP of $2,500 USD and come with Roval’s lifetime warranty and a no fault crash replacement warranty.
More information about the wheels and their development can be found at our Control SL Team LTD first ride post.
Sharing 24-spoke wheels isn’t something we regularly do, but Roval claims the anti pinch-flat design, durable layup, tool-free freehub removal and same-length spokes make them a great fit for bikepacking as well. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
