Unveiled at this year’s MADE bike show, the Sanitas Cycles Pistil Softail features titanium flex-plate chainstays that allow it to be ridden like a hardtail or as a short-travel trail bike on more gnarly terrain. Find details on the Pistil Softail pre-order here…

There are currently seven distinct models within Sanitas Cycles’ lineup. Each bike is handmade at their shop in Durango, Colorado, and is custom-sized for the customer at no additional cost. Sanitas’ latest model, the Pistil Softail, was on display at MADE this summer, and while it might look like a normal titanium full-suspension mountain bike, there’s a lot more going on.

The Sanitas Cycles Pistil Softail is designed around flex plate chainstays connected to a shock and single upper pivot and rocker link. Without a pivot point, it relies on titanium’s natural flex to achieve 70mm of efficient small-bump compliance. According to Sanitas, “The dual position shock allows the Pistil Softail to be ridden like a traditional hardtail or provide small-bump compliance when desired.” The frame features a hydroformed downtube, hand-picked 3/2.5 CWSR Titanium tubing, two sets of bottle mounts, and clearance for 29 x 2.6″ tires.
