British brand Saracen just announced their revamped range of gravel bikes. The new Saracen Levarg is a budget-minded gravel lineup with three versions, including a flat-bar build. Learn more here…

The UK-based brand Saracen has been in the English mountain bike scene for a long while, as evidenced from the 19090s Saracen Kili Flyer we featured as a Reader’s Rig a while back (find that in the Related Content grid below). Today, the company announced the latest iteration of its lineup of gravel bikes, which they claim was inspired by their mountain bike range “with an emphasis on fun.” The Saracen Levarg (gravel backwards) comes in three flavors, each built around a reworked alloy frame, carbon fork, and 650B x 47mm tires. Find details below.

All three Saracen Levarg builds have the same custom-butted, hydroformed 6061 alloy frame and carbon fork and come in sizes small through XL. The Levarg has standard 142/100 x 12mm thru-axles and is built for 650b x 47mm tires, although the company doesn’t make any claims for maximum tire clearance. Based on the photos, it doesn’t look like the fork would have room for anything too much larger. I’d wager a 52mm tire might max things out. Other frame features include internal cable routing for a 30.9mm dropper post and internal routing for the derailleurs and rear brake. Oddly, they left the cable exposed going to the chainstay at the rear derailleur.

It looks like the Levarg frame and fork are relatively consistent with the previous models, although I’m admittedly too familiar with them. One thing that did change is that the new frame has loads of mounts, including three sets on the inside of the triangle, a pair under the downtube, and a pair for a direct mount top tube bag. It also has eyelets on the rear dropout, although there don’t appear to be any upper rack mounts on the seat stays. The fork also received the bikepacking treatment with three-pack mounts on each leg as well as fender mounts and a threaded light mount at the crown. All three of the build offerings come with Formula hubs, Jalco rims, and Maxxis Rambler 47mm tires.

The Levarg FB is the flat-bar version in the range. It has the same frame as the other two models but gets the mountain bike Shimano DEORE 1X10 drivetrain, Shimano MT-200, and a 710mm Race Face Ride flat bar. It’s the least expensive in the range at £999.
