During their ride through Mongolia, two friends recently took it upon themselves to save a baby yak. Getting creative with their use of a Tailfin rear pannier system, check out what happened during this amazing interaction below…
Sam and Luke, also know as the Gargbage Bag Boys, are two friends from Australia who do everything together. After hitchhiking through India, they found themselves on a gameshow and took home some considerable cash. With that cash, they decided to embark on a bikepacking trip around the world. Supported by Curve Cycling out of their home nation, the two friends consistently update their social media with their latest adventures, and they recently have had quite an interesting experience in Mongolia.
Spotting a baby yak in a perilous situation, Sam took the initiative of putting it into his Tailfin pannier system. Gently rolling the animal into a small burrito-like shape, the yak has thus been named “burrito.” Eventually, Sam found a small herd of larger yaks to drop the baby off with and let the animal go on its way. Through their videos, it looks like the baby yak was entirely unbothered by the experience of being rolled up and put into a bikepacking bag, which perhaps speaks to Sam and Luke’s demeanor and the comfort of the Tailfin pannier system. Either way, their experience begs the question: have you ever saved an animal of some kind while on a bikepacking trip? During my days in Florida, I’d consistently stop in the middle of a busy road to carry turtles across the street. Having seen too many made into roadside paste, I figured it was the least I could do.
