In The White Rim, Chris and Hilary from Slow Spokes take on one of the United States’s most famous trails. Not realizing how coveted a chance to camp in the White Rim is, the Slow Spokes duo took to their self-supported journey around the iconic trail systems with a lackadaisical ease over a few days. Complete with stunning views, this trip wasn’t without its challenges. Being completely self-supported, Chris and Hillary had to be mindful of their water consumption during a very warm trip, balancing their intake with output throughout the journey.
The video also includes fun facts about the White Rim area, details about geological features, some history of the trails and roads, and other interesting and insightful pieces of nature-oriented lore. With folks like Slow Spokes bikepacking the White Rim, it’s nice to see a more relaxed take on a route that has been the subject of recent FKTs and more race-focused media over the last few years. The video is much more representative of how everyday riders would tackle this challenging terrain, and stopping for the incredible views feels like a much better use of that highly coveted opportunity.
