Specialized is sure to turn some heads with today’s release of the new Sirrus Carbon X 5.0 and Sirrus Carbon 6.0, which feature an unusual elevated “Compliance Junction.” Find more details and photos here…
Featuring a full-carbon FACT 9r frame and fork, a vibration-dampening Future Shock, a 1x-specific drivetrain, clearance for up to 700 x 42mm tires, and a design that’s bound to be polarizing, the new Specialized Sirrus Carbon models are flat-bar bikes that the brand says are “equally at home slicing through the chaos of the city or roaming the distant hills.”
At the heart of the new Sirrus models is their new Compliance Junction, which elevates the meeting point of the down tube, seat tube, and chainstay. Specialized says it’s designed to strike the perfect balance of flex and efficiency, offering unmatched smoothness and comfort. They also dubiously claim that it “looks so dang good,” which we’re not quite sure about just yet—maybe we need some time to accept this futuristic hybrid vision.
The scant details Specialized sent our way ahead of this morning’s launch indicate that the Sirrus Carbon is aimed at folks who want a zippy commuter that can handle the occasional gravel detour or weekend ramble beyond the city, and with its reasonably well-rounded build kits, it seems like it could reliably serve that role. It wouldn’t be among our first choices as a bikepacking rig, though it’s reminiscent of the flat-bar Diverge, which piqued our interest when it was released in 2021, only without the dropper post, 12-speed drivetrain, and a few mounts.
The more affordable Sirrus X 5.0 is priced at $2,250, and the Sirrus 6.0 costs $3,000. Both are available in sizes XS to XXL and feature Specialized’s Rider-First Engineered geometry, which uses unique tube sizes and carbon layup selections for each size. The Sirrus X 5.0 weighs 24 pounds, and the Sirrus 6.0 comes in at just 20.3 pounds.
