Inspired by the iconic off-road, all-terrain bicycle style of the 1980s, the new Stayer Cycles stAyTB blends nostalgia with modern touches to create versatile ATB for folks looking for a bike that’s both practical and fun. Find all the specs and details here…

Just announced, the Stayer Cycles stAyTB is the first bike in the British brand’s practical-meets-fun “midlife crisis town bike” series, built for everything from grocery-hauling to casual adventures. Developed in collaboration with 2ndLifeBikes, the stAyTB is a distinctive creation featuring a fillet-brazed frame and fork, bullmoose bars, a front “day” rack, custom headbadge, and other bespoke details, all handcrafted in Stayer’s Leytonstone workshop in East London.

The Stayer Cycles stAyTB is constructed from fillet-brazed Reynolds steel tubing with specs that include a threaded BSA bottom bracket shell, M5 bosses for fenders and a rack, and clearance for 650b tires up to 2.2″ wide. The StAyTB has a modular dropout system with inserts that allow it to run 142 x 12mm thru axles, QR 135mm, or a 135mm horizontal for singlespeed/fixed. They will also be offering a Stayer-made (Hulsroy-designed) UDH insert for those interested in future-proofing for SRAM drivetrains. The frame has provisions for externally routed front and rear derailleurs with routing arrangement under the bottom bracket.

As for brakes, the stAyTB has ISO disc tabs and external routing for full housing along the top tube. Flat mount is an option with the correct adaptors but the frame is made for IS or post mount calipers with an IS adaptor.

Another interesting feature is the stAyTB’s seat tube junction. It fits a 27.2 seatpost held in place with a fancy fastback clamp using a removable threaded boss—this helps prevent ham-fisted folks from ruining the frame in the event of “a particularly enthusiastic occurrence of over-tightening.” It uses an M6 bolt and barrel nut that can be found at about any hardware store.

The stAyTB is designed for 1 1/8″ straight steerer forks with an axle-to-crown length of around 395mm. The matching fork shown here has a 55mm offset and a 12 x 100mm thru axle.

The graphic elements on the frame are stickers. Replacements and alternative colors will be available soon. The fancy headbadge is available for an additional charge and is attached with M3 screws to the frame, making cleaning and repainting easier. Without it, the frame comes with a headbadge sticker with the same design.
