Ever dealt with a very stuck seatpost? If you know, you know… and you’ll wish you had Phil Vandelay’s latest invention: the mighty stuck seatpost removal tool. Watch Phil’s video about how and why he built it, and see some very fulfilling slow-motion footage of stuck seatposts being freed here…
Given my history with stuck seatposts, I couldn’t resist sharing Phil Vandelay’s latest creation. Not to mention, I simply can’t get enough of his videos. In this one, Phil tackles a project he’s been eager to build for some time: a stuck seatpost removal tool designed to help rescue bike frames. Seatposts can sometimes become so seized in frames due to corrosion and other factors that they’re nearly impossible to remove by hand. This tool addresses that problem, using a large threaded spindle to apply substantial pulling force, safely extracting even the most stubborn seatposts. Enjoy!
So, what if you don’t have a stuck seatpost removal tool? Well, you might be S.O.L. I certainly had a hell of a time with one back in 2013, which I shared here on the site. Find that linked in the Further Reading grid below. Plus, find a link to a few more videos by Phil Vandelay, all of which are well worth watching.
