Surly just announced a new version of the Open Bar, their popular “upright but never uptight” handlebar, which is now wider, made from a lightweight aluminum, and tested to mountain bike standards. Take a quick peek at the Surly Open Bar 2.0 here…
Surly’s latest comfort-focused handlebar is a revised version of an old favorite. The new Surly Open Bar 2.0 shares the same upright, relaxed position of its predecessor but is now offered in aluminum, rather than 4130 Chromoly steel, for an overall lighter feel that weighs in at 435 grams, down from 475 grams. It has also been formally tested to mountain bike standards for when the urge to take on trails arises.
The new Open Bar is wider than the original, too, measuring 714mm across, rather than 666mm. It still features a 25.4 clamp, a 40mm rise, and a 53-degree sweep. Available in black only, the Surly Open Bar 2.0 costs a reasonable $50. It’s in stock now at SurlyBikes.com or from your local dealer.
