The new Tarptent ArcDome Ultra is a four-season, freestanding dome-style tent with room for two people, an Ultra TNT construction, and two vestibules. Check it out here…

Until this week, Tarptent has never offered a true freestanding tent. Many of Tarptent’s shelters can be converted to freestanding thanks to different pole add-ons, but trekking-pole-style shelters and semi-freestanding tents are their bread and butter. The new Tarptent ArcDome Ultra is a dedicated freestanding tent that combines a classic dome-style shape with Tarptent’s patented StratoSpire series offset layout.

The ArcDome Ultra is made from Challenge Sailcloth’s Ultra TNT fabric, using a fully bonded construction. The two main poles thread through exterior sleeves, rather than clips, and can be set up without any stakes. It uses a double-wall design with your choice of a solid or mesh interior, and the fly can be fully rolled back on both doors for stargazing or ventilation.

On the inside, the ArcDome Ultra can fit two long, wide rectangular sleeping pads up to 25″ (63.5cm) wide and is long enough for folks up to 6’7″ (200cm) tall. There are four large integrated interior pockets and clips for gear organization and storage, vestibules at both doorways, and it’s designed for true four-season use with stronger and more durable materials.

The Tarptent ArcDome Ultra weighs 1,639 grams (3.6 pounds) with a solid interior, carbon poles, eight stakes, and storage bags. Ditching the stakes and bags will drop that total weight down to 1,508 grams (3.3 pounds). The tents are made in China at the only factory in the world that uses hot bonded/taped construction, and then hand-checked and tested at Tarptent headquarters in Nevada City, California.
