Wisconsin-based Trek Bikes has released a new video giving viewers a look inside the Trek CheckOUT development story. Featuring insights from lead engineer Alex Bedinghaus, the video walks through the entire story of their new full-suspension gravel bike.
From inception to launch, Bedinghaus speaks to the design challenges the team faced when creating a bike in a genre that has experienced rapid growth and change in the last few years. From aluminum prototypes featuring a maximum tire clearance of 700 x 50mm tires to the 2.2” suspension-corrected clearance it ended up with, Bedinghaus talks about every portion of the bike and how it took its final shape. Be it the bags, suspension-oriented rack, or handlebars, there was a reason behind each decision Trek made with the CheckOUT, and it makes for an interesting story.
