Building on the Riverside Touring platform, the new Decathlon ADVT 900 and 920 now feature flat bars, updated components, ergonomic grips, and a Shutter Precision dynamo hub to power lights and charge electronics. Check out both bikes here…
Based on popularity, the Decathlon Riverside Touring 920 was certainly one of the most interesting bikes we reviewed in 2021. This was likely due to its surplus of gear mounting options, a well-rounded build kit, stock dynamo hub, and approachable price tag. Both Neil and I spent time riding it, and agreed that it offers fantastic value for rides on relatively smooth terrain, but there was certainly room for improvement. The folks at Decathlon/Rockrider reached out recently to let us know about two updated models that build on the Riverside Touring platform.
The new Decathlon ADVT 900 and 920 are designed to improve on what the Riverside Touring 920 set out to accomplish. The frame looks nearly identical, but they are now based around flat bars instead of drop bars, the wheels have been upgraded with DT Swiss rims and a Shutter Precision dynamo hub, and the drivetrain has been updated to a Shimano 1×12 system. These changes address several of the issues we identified in our review, and the price remains fairly competitive at €1,699 or €1,999.
The ADVT 900 (beige frame) offers impressive carrying capabilities with beefy front and rear racks, fenders, 33 mounting points, a Brooks B17 Imperial saddle, and a Shutter Precision PD7 dynamo hub with a Cycle 2Charge USB charger. It comes specced with Schwalbe Marathon tires for road and smooth off-road riding and costs €1,699. The ADVT 920 (yellow frame) ditches the racks and fenders, adds Vittoria Terreno XC Race tires, and comes with Shimano Deore XT hydraulic disc brakes instead of the mechanical TRP brakes on the 900.
Both ADVT models come in four sizes, one color option, and a single well-rounded build kit. Unfortunately they aren’t available in North America, and likely won’t be any time soon. Find details on the ADVT 920 here, and the ADVT 900 here.
