Just released, the new Vargo UltraFly 1 Tent uses an interesting single-pole design, a hybrid Ultra TNT/ nylon construction, and weighs less than 800 grams (two pounds) fully packed. Find images and further details here…

Vargo, an outdoor gear brand based in Pennsylvania, is best known for their lineup of lightweight titanium stoves and cookware—particularly the BOT bottle/pot hybrid—but they also offer a few styles of backpacks, tools, and other handy accessories. Everything they sell is designed in the USA and produced in China. While Vargo isn’t entirely new to making tents, it’s not exactly their bread and butter either. The last time they released a tent was in 2018, with their No-Fly 2P Tent, which is no longer available.

Vargo UltraFly 1 Tent

The new UltraFly 1 Tent seems like a big step forward for Vargo, and it looks like it could be a promising option for bikepackers. The UltraFly 1 Tent uses a single-pole design that runs lengthwise across the tent and pairs with Vargo’s patented insertion-point setup system. Unlike most tents that enter closer to the tent’s perimeter, the pole slips into a sleeve partway up the integrated fly. The tent is non-freestanding, and Vargo includes six stakes for the four corners and two sides.

There is a single zippered side-entry door with a vestibule, a large air vent that can be accessed from the inside, and an interior pocket. The UltraFly 1 Tent uses an Ultra TNT laminate fabric for the floor as it doesn’t absorb water and can be wiped clean if exposed to rain or condensation. Vargo uses 15-denier nylon with no harmful chemicals and is PSAF-free for the fly, which is integrated into the body. The floor dimensions are 81″ x 36″ (206cm x 91cm), the peak height is 43″ (109cm), and the packed size is 15.5″ x 5″ (39cm x 13cm). According to Vargo, the UltraFly 1 Tent weighs 1 pound and 12 ounces (794 grams).

The Vargo UltraFly 1 Tent is priced at $699 USD and is available now from VargoOutdoors.com.
