Over the last month, the StreetRiders have become a major presence in the Black Lives Matter movement in New York. The group takes to the streets with weekly bike protests that have attracted thousands of participants to rally against police violence. In episode #46 of the War on Cars podcast, host Doug Gordon talks with StreetridersNYC co-founder Orlando Hamilton (@cheforlando_) about how he found his voice as a political organizer, what bicycles bring to the protest movement, and what it feels like to look out and see 10,000 people filling the streets of Times Square all in support of Black lives.
The War on Cars is a bi-monthly podcast about the worldwide fight to undo a century’s worth of damage wrought by the automobile. Find more on their website at WarOnCars.org.
