Oaxaca, Mexico

Weekend Snapshot

Andrew and Kate from Mulberry Gap in Georgia came down for a visit in Oaxaca to do some local rides and bikepacking. We took them on a proper introductory overnighter, rolling through the valley and stopping at a few popular sites, such as the Dianzu archeological site we were paused at here. That was followed by a hearty 5,300-foot climb up to our Sierra Norte campsite in Benito Jaurez and a rip-roaring descent back to the valley on the Mil Rios trail the following morning.

Weekend Snapshot

The trails are muddy, so we hopped on our rando bikes and rode with the wind. Neither fast nor slow, it was spirited riding; we chatted and laughed and even saw some sun. Homemade cake at the turn-around got us back home.

Southern Arizona

This weekend, Sarah Swallow organized an Adventure Ride out of Patagonia, Arizona, as part of her Ruta Del Jefe series. The idea behind these rides is to introduce folks to the style of rides the main event at the end of March will offer. For me, it was a way to meet likeminded folks and ride in a beautiful area. This year’s event takes place from March 21-24th in Cuenca Los Ojos, Mexico, about four hours southeast of Tucson. Tickets are sold out, but you can join the waitlist and learn more about the event here.
