We’re currently nine days into riding the stunning Montañas Vacías bikepacking route in Spain. This was taken the day after snow and thunderstorms in a beautiful valley. Tummies full of fried potatoes from Bar Pappi, this descent into the stunning river valley with griffon vultures flying overhead was worth all the climbing!

The Apennines between the regions of Emilia and Tuscany have so much to offer when it comes to bikepacking. Reaching the area is easy as there is a train running from Bologna to Pistoia that makes frequent stops and allows bicycles. Last weekend, I went to Lake Suviana, passing through big patches of unspoiled nature.
