Summer is winding down here in the Northern Hemisphere, and now’s the time to get out and maximize the season’s last long days for riding. Many of our readers were doing precisely that on Saturday and Sunday, and in today’s edition of Weekend Snapshot, we share a few scenes from Europe and North America. Find a mix of summery vignettes below, then keep scrolling to use the short form to share a scene from a recent ride and explore some related posts from the archive.
Malmedy, Belgium

The Stoneman Arduenna is a 176-kilometre mountain bike route with 3,900 vertical metres. The route is a loop, and it takes you through Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg. It’s a scenic route through Ardennes with some technical MTB ups and downs. It’s ideal to ride this one as an overnighter on a weekend. But beware: when rain has fallen, this becomes quite a difficult track.
British Columbia

Almost 40 people made their way to the qathet Regional District on Friday to participate in the inaugural Slow Coast event—a bikepacking weekend focused on community, education, and conservation. With their help, we raised over $2,000 for four local advocacy groups who led a discussion/presentation night on Friday. We followed that with the most memorable group campout on Texada Island, where we rode bikes, swam, laughed, created art, and made new friends. We can’t wait for next year. Thank you to everyone who came!

My friend Marc and I escaped to the Pyrenees for four days, attempting to cross the Eastern Pyrenees from La Pobla de Segur to Puigcerdà. End of summer storms forced a few reroutings and improvisations but thankfully in the Pyrenees you can’t take a wrong turn and anywhere you end up is stunning!
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: We prefer 3:2 ratio landscape-oriented photos.
