Our latest Monday morning Weekend Snapshot takes us on a tour of North America with stops in West Virginia, British Columbia, and Colorado. Find a little inspiration by browsing submissions that showcase what three folks from our worldwide community were up to in their recent time off here…
If you’re anything like me and live in the Northern Hemisphere, you’ve been out trying to maximize time on the bike in recent weeks to make up for all those rides you should have taken while the days were long and the weather was perfect. With fall having arrived and winter on its heels, we’ve seen an uptick in end-of-season Weekend Snapshot submissions, perhaps spurred by the beautiful changing colors, and we share a few in today’s installment of our community-sourced weekly series. Find three snippets from readers in the United States and Canada below, then continue scrolling to see some related posts from the archive and a short form you can use to share a shot from a recent getaway on two wheels.
Colorado

Riding out of camp on a beautiful morning after one of the windiest nights of my life. My tarp eventually gave in when a guy line snapped, so I ended up just sleeping on top of the collapsed pile of fabric for most of the night. Despite the terrible sleep, it was well worth it for the incredible sunrise and the journey out and back!
West Virginia

I took Samantha on her first bikepacking trip, Canaan Valley and the Forks of Cheat, on our bikes, Kira and Dax. The 101 miles of West Virginia backcountry were unendingly gorgeous, with wonder around every bend. We can’t wait to do it again and highly recommend it to everyone.
British Columbia, Canada

My partner and I recently spent four days riding through the exceptionally beautiful and ecologically diverse South Chilcotin Provincial Park. It was a welcome change of scenery to ride through protected land less visibly scarred by humans, as we currently live in an area where every ride has reminders of the devastated landscapes that deforestation leaves behind. Our goal was to have this trip be as relaxed as possible with time for sound recordings, slow mornings, and extended lunch breaks. However, we still got a taste of the ruggedness the Chilcotins are known for with torrential downpours on back-to-back days while setting up camp, a derailleur bent at an impossible angle, and a howling achilles that ended up feeling better climbing the last pass in Crocs.
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: We prefer 3:2 ratio landscape-oriented photos.
