We’re starting another week with a quick look back at what a handful of our readers around the world were up to in their recent time off. In this Weekend Snapshot, we join them on a rugged mix of trails in Canada, Spain, and California. Browse this installment’s mini reports below, then scroll down to dig into some related posts from the archive and find a short from you can use to share an image from one of your pedal-powered getaways.
Madrid, Spain

By Linzi James
Last week, we spent five days cycling the sandy gravel roads around the Spanish capital, dodging showers, refuelling on olives and tortillas, and swapping tales with wonderful Warm Showers hosts. The Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park was a particular highlight in the northern section of our loop along with the seemingly endless trails of the more agricultural south.
Manitoba, Canada

By Ian Smith
When Manitoba in late October gives you overnight temps that aren’t yet freezing, it’s best to get out, take advantage, and enjoy the colours. Here’s a shot from a sneaky mid-week S24O just west of Winnipeg.
California

By Evan Christenson
I recently went back out with Borderlands Bike Drops, the organization I wrote about a while ago here. They haven’t been back to this canyon in a few months, and all the supplies were gone. We saw bighorn sheep and coyotes and jackrabbits and border patrol agents. Amid this hectic week of divisive rhetoric, don’t forget that actions speak the loudest and that thousands of vulnerable lives are forever caught in the crossfire. And don’t forget that bikes can save the world!
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: We prefer 3:2 ratio landscape-oriented photos.
