An hour and a half by train from the Mediterranean, and we’re in Carcassone, the start of this great spring classic that we plan every year with friends. It’s a trip about 100 kilometres long, mainly on trails and singletracks that allow us to enjoy the flowering of the vegetation. It’s also a great way to kick off the bivouac season! And to pass through remote and unheard-of places like these imposing cliffs from the Triassic period, where dinosaur eggs were discovered.

Earlier this month, we did the Sicily Divide route in six days. Amazing scenery and tiny towns in the inland of the Italian island. Earthquake-torn cities, volcanic soils, lots of hills to climb, and a million old men in Fiat Pandas.

Nun’s Cross or Siward’s Cross with Nun’s Cross Farm in the background. It’s the largest and oldest recorded cross mentioned in the 1240 preambulation of Dartmoor. Taken towards the end of a three-day solo loop around Dartmoor National Park in Devon, UK. It’s hard to believe that when I set out in the morning, it was torrential rain blowing a gale for two hours—typical Dartmoor weather, where you have to pack for all seasons.
