Went on a solo overnighter in this low mountain range and woke up to a slightly hazy sunrise under a hawthorn and between autumn crocuses, which announce the end of summer here. I was looking forward to a 40-kilometre descent following the dry bed of a river that carries surface water only for the final six kilometers, owing to the karst underneath. The entire descent was foggy, but I couldn’t help but grin all the way down.

Bikepacking the Transnevada route, which I found here on the site. One of the best ones so far, but it’s as hard as it is rewarding. This was my first glimpse of a very nice route. I arrived and joined the route from Bayarcal, where I climbed up to my first shelter. This photo was taken the day after, right as I exited the refugio from the woods. Amazing!
