I am an 18-year-old who recently set off on a journey to bike the entirety of Wisconsin. I bought my bike the month before, sewed a bunch of my own bike bags, and dehydrated all of my own meals. In 10 days, I completed a solo, unsupported, 600-mile bikepacking adventure from the Wisconsin-Illinois border to Lake Superior at the very top of the state. There’s something special about a bikepacking trip where your route depends just as much on ferry schedules as it does on your legs. My brother Max, friend Jono, and I caught the ferry from Anacortes, Washington, bound for the San Juan Islands with just one goal: squeeze as much riding as possible into a single weekend.
