In today’s Weekend Snapshot, we join a trio of readers on short trips around Oregon, Finland, and Virginia. Get to know three folks from our community through their interpretations of bikepacking and find a link to submit shots from your rides here…
As is becoming tradition, we’re highlighting backyard rides and campouts from our global community of readers for today’s edition of Weekend Snapshot. This time around, we head to the Pacific Northwest, Eastern US, and the south of Finland. Find this week’s snapshots below, and scroll down to the bottom of this post to submit your own!
Oregon, USA
By Rob Knoth (@robknoth)
Despite a comedy of errors and mechanicals that pushed our start time back to late afternoon and shortened the first day ride to under 14 miles, we had an amazing overnighter weaving together forest roads and loamy singletrack in the high Cascade lakes in Oregon. A great reminder of the power of the overnighter to recharge—and not letting stress/frustration cancel your plans.
Uusimaa, Finland

A short local summer overnighter with my partner. Just a 25-kilometer ride away from home, there is a beautiful spot to camp over a small cliff where you can jump to the refreshing lake and enjoy the evening sun. In the morning, we watched the sun light up the cliffs on the other side, fried yesterday’s croissant in butter, ground some coffee, and smiled. A perfect trip enjoy nature, relax, stop by a country manor, and ride bike lanes, gravel paths, and a bit of hike-a-bike.
Virginia, USA

I linked up the Grayson Gravel Traverse and a section of the TransVirginia route to make a loop around the Grayson Highlands and Mt. Rogers area. We got a slight break in the summer heat over the weekend, so I took the opportunity to spend a couple of nights camping. This photo is at Elk Garden, one of two spots where the route crossed the Appalachian Trail.
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: we prefer 3:2 ratio landscape oriented photos.
