In this edition of Weekend Snapshot, we make our way to scenic and remote corners of Scotland’s Isle of Arran, the Austrian Apls, and the Italian Dolomites, following a trio of riders from our worldwide community on their bikepacking getaways. To escape the Oktoberfest madness in Munich, a friend and I decided to escape toward the Alps for an overnighter at the beloved Karwendelhaus. We left Munich, rode along the Isar River, up to the incredibly beautiful Lake Walchensee, through kitschy Mittenwald, into the Karwendel Valley, and up to the mountain hut. The route is pretty much all uphill with a tough ascent at the end. Totally worth the effort, though!

I took two days off to have an extra long weekend for a trip to the Dolomites. For my trip, I created a route based on the Trans-Dolomiti Tour that I could do in four days. It was magnificent, and riding along the Marmolata was an especially stunning experience!
