Our readers were once again out pedaling their bikes all over the world this past weekend, and we’re back with another Weekend Snapshot to highlight a few of their rides. In today’s edition of our Monday morning series, we head to the Alps to Ocean Trail in New Zealand, the northern reaches of Finland, and the Monumental Loop in New Mexico. Check out all three snapshots below, then use the form at the bottom of this post to share a photo from one of your recent bikepacking journeys or day rides.

Tried to make the most of a long weekend with a great loop from Lake Tekapo, using some of the Alps to Ocean Trail, linked together with gravel roads like this one.

We recently had more than a week of marvelous arctic spring weather, bright and sunny but still freezing properly through the night (-24°C), founding a crust that would soon be ridable. Unfortunately, my hopes were covered by a 20cm blanket on Thursday. Riding was possible where earlier snow had once been cleared, though an abrupt switch of the forest road into a snowmobile track was sobering.

After a winter of skiing in the southern Rockies, I was ready for some warm weather and time on the bike. The Monumental Loop lined up perfectly with what I was looking for. I spent five days riding singletrack/dirt roads, sleeping under the stars, and eating green chile-smothered everything. I enjoyed the experience so much that after finishing the loop, I pedaled back to a few areas I wanted to explore more and stayed an extra four days.
