Weekend Snapshot

I recently spent five days escaping the miserable British weather on a sunny 250-mile tour of the gravel tracks, quiet roads, forests and coastline of southwest Sardinia. Here’s a scene from a climb through the mining region of Ingurtosu.

Over the weekend, I joined a friend for a trip out to his family’s summer home north of Copenhagen. We took our bikes with us to cycle all the way back. Luckily, we had a day full of sun for our first longer bike ride of the year. Denmark has some beautiful forests, and we took some detours to see a few of them. The photo was shot in a forest called Gribskov.

My friend Max and I just crested into the rugged and sparse Maestrazgo region in Spain. The mountains demand a respectable tribute, and so we spend much of our days lounging at camp, napping in the shade of stone ruins, and snacking on bravas and sardines in small town bars—when we find them. At this rate, our destination Teruel may well forever remain a mythical place to us.
