This edition of Weekend Snapshot zooms in on the Rocky Mountains, a quiet beach in Catalonia, and the Eastern United States, where three folks from our worldwide bikepacking community share a glimpse into their recent time away on two wheels. Find a trio of fresh vignettes and a form to share a shot from one of your rides here…

For the 75th week in a row, we’re shining some light on what three of our readers got up to during their time off. This Weekend Snapshot takes us to Spain and two markedly different regions of the United States to tag along on loaded bikepacking trips close to three of our readers’ homes. Find all three snapshots, a quick form to share a photo of your own, and some related posts below.

Spain

Weekend Snapshot

By Itzi Aldecoa Tamayo (@itzi.at)

Bank holiday plan: curvy, quiet roads along the coast, bonfire and beers on a hidden beach, midnight swim, sunrise over the sea from our cosy bivvy. I just moved to Barcelona, and I can’t believe that these kinds of adventures and landscapes are at my doorstep, no need to hop on a train.

Colorado

Weekend Snapshot

By Ann Driggers (@anndriggers)

Last weekend, two friends and I found ourselves exploring the high desert plateaus and canyon country of Colorado’s Western Slope. After a snowy winter and a wet spring, the wild flowers were in full force, the landscape vibrant green, and the temperatures perfect. It is primetime for this elevation in Colorado! Our second night provided for one of the most unique settings I have ever camped in: an area of hoodoos. These spires of soft rock are naturally shaped by wind and water and are also known as fairy chimneys or tent rocks. The skies were clear, and I left my camera out all night capturing approximately 700 images, which I compiled into one for this photo I like to call “Hoodoo Star Trails.”

Virginia

Weekend Snapshot

By Benjamin Carpenter (@bvcarpenter)

This past weekend, I took on the Trans Virginia 565 Mountain route a week after the grand depart due to work schedule conflicts. The weather was about near perfect, and the route was stunning. I wanted to cover a lot of ground during each day but sleep every night and enjoy the route as much as possible while still moving at a good pace. I finished in just under four days.
